Firestone / GFA

Firestone and GAF are among the leading manufacturers of building materials that we use in our commercial applications. All labor and installations are in accordance of their manufacturing guidelines.

E-P-D-M

EPDM is an extremely durable synthetic rubber roofing membrane (ethylene propylene diene terpolymer) widely used in low-slope buildings in the United States and worldwide. Its two primary ingredients, ethylene and propylene, are derived from oil and natural gas. EPDM is available in both black and white, and is sold a broad variety of widths, ranging from 7.5 feet to fifty feet, and in two thicknesses, 45 and 60 mils. EPDM can be installed either fully adhered, mechanically attached or ballasted, with the seams of the roofing system sealed with liquid adhesives or specially formulated tape.

Hot Tar Systems

Advantages of a hot tar roof

Longer system life-Each ply contains a mat of glass fiber reinforcement and when multiple piles are combined and sandwiched between layers of water resistant asphalt, the result is a longer lasting roof.

Limited Roof Movement-Although all roofs expand and contract a hot tar roof however limits movement with a high tensile strength in excess of the recommended 200 lbs/sq in. The potential for fracturing is more or less eliminated, and the Built-Up Roof will last longer.

Superior Water Resistance-Single ply membranes only offer one chance at preventing a leak while multiple layers of concrete and fiberglass offers up to five times greater water resistance thickness.

Easier installation-Unlike single ply roofing, which requires ballast or fasteners because they are generally laid loose, the multiple plies in hot tar roofing are fused together allowing an easier installation.

Aluminum Reflective Roof Coatings

Why Aluminum?

The advantage of adding metallic aluminum pigment to roof coating goes beyond cosmetics. The advantages are twofold:

The asphaltic oils in the base coating are protected from the intense rays of the sun by the reflective properties of the aluminum. Over 70% of the sun’s rays are reflected, thereby preventing the oils from being “cooked out” out of the base asphaltic coating. This allows the coating to retain its resilient characteristics and not crack or prematurely dry out.

The use of aluminum reflective coating will help reduce indoor building temperatures by as much as 15-20 degrees Fahrenheit. The sun’s rays are prevented from penetrating the roof coating and passing the heat into the building interior thus improving inside living and working conditions. The combination of aluminum and asphalt produces a self-protecting roof coating with longer lasting moisture and heat resistant features. The aluminum pigment is permanently bonded to the asphalt base assuring a longer roof life and savings on roof maintenance.
